I installed the latest version of gAnyremote using the .deb.  It seemed to install alright, but when I run it it puts up a message saying "Anyremote not found! please install it or correct $PATH"  But when I click ok, ganyremote starts to run.  What does this mean?  I am new to linux so if this is something obvious feel free to mock me, but any help would be great.
Also, I cant find any of the example cfg files, I don't even have a /usr/share/anyremote directory and I havent seen them in any of the tgz files Ive d/led

    Thanks in advance!

So i think I only installed the frontend GUI, right?  Ok well I tried installing anyremote 4.6 but it had a number o errors, which start with
X11/Xlib.h: no such file or directory
X11/extensions/Xtest.h no such file or directory
So i guess im missing the Xlibtst package, Ill get that and see if everything clears up

Yes, You are right. It needs to install Xlibtst package before.
        Please read http://anyremote.sourceforge.net/pre.html
        for details

You have to install anyremote (and possible anyremote-j2me-client)
      before gAnyRemote
