It's not dead -- it's just resting (to paraphrase the parrot sketch ;)

The developers have been quite busy lately (I can only speak for
myself, but I'm trying to finish my Ph.D) so there hasn't been much
activity -- but the project has not been abandoned. Hopefully, things
will pick up in the not-too-distant future.
