One very useful feature in AnyEdit would be Gutter Marks. Essentially, these marks function just like comments in the source code, but are not in the actual source code itself.

The mark, indicated by some icon (like a question mark, a red X, a note, a bug, etc.) is placed in the gutter (just like a bookmark arrow would be) on a specified line. A name, description, and priority is specified for the mark. When the mouse hover over a mark, the name, description, and priority pop up. (If you want to see how this work, the Gel Java IDE ( http://memescape.co.uk/gexperts/index.html ) implements this feature.)

Marks are highly useful, because they are better than regular comments: Marks are more visible and attention-grabbing, yet take up less space.

Gel (at the time of this writing) only allows one to add and delete marks, but not really anything more. It would be nice if marks could be searched and a list of marks for a file/project shown in the IDE.
