Well, we left the 700 mark far behind us and moving quickly forward to the 800 mark, well, technically we are already beyond that mark as well, if we would consider each font within a multi-fonts set as single "font".... read more
I wrote this document over 4 years ago, but never published it really, until now, because I believe that it is still current and at relevant for most people today.
Carsten Cumbrowski, Fresno, CA, November 2014
The current copyright laws are so messed up that it is impossible for an average person to make heads or tails out of them, that it requires a highly specialized person or better even group of persons who can up with the best tale to tell, to convince a judge, who is also unable to make up heads and tails in most curt cases what the head is and what the tail (or who) and thus, who has to be right and who could possibly not. ... read more
Just in my last post I stated full of optimism that I am about to break the 700 fonts mark for my TheDraw ANSI fonts collection. And behold, only yesterday the count swell to 710 fonts, YEAH!
Yet today, only a few days after I made this statement and one day after I breached the targeted mark, the count in my collection dropped significantly to "only" 677 fonts, 23 fonts away from the 700 mark. What happened?... read more

Other News: I also release a new beta version of my ANSI TEXT EDITOR (ATE) Tool (Current Version 1.0.2B), which fully supports TheDraw fonts as well as Figlet ASCII fonts, but also using its own proprietary format to remedy the limitations and shortcomings set by the .TDF file format, such as the maximum letter size of 32×12 characters. That is also the reason why the fonts are saved by ATE in its own file format, which specifications are public and documented: .ATEF ANSI Font File Format Specifiations V1.0.... read more
Less than a month ago I released Version 1.2.0 of my TheDraw (.TDF) ANSI/ASCII Art Fonts Tool.
The previous release version was about adding new and fixing existing features of the tool, such as additional font types import support or the build in TheDraw ANSI Text Editor launched in the DOSBOX MS DOS Emulator Tool.... read more

Hello Folks,
I released in April this year the first version of my TDF - TheDraw Fonts File Tool for Windows.
I released version 1.0.1.0 shortly after without making a special announcement. It introduced some improvements to the interface and new feature (which did not work :(, but it does now hehe).

Hi Folks,
Here is another tutorial for "Oldskool Demomaker" users out there. This time not a tutorial for an entire demo, but some general tips for creating your own multi-part demos with OSDM.
This tutorial was originally published in 2010 at the OSDM Support Wiki. I decided to re-post it at my blog, because the Wiki wasn't always up and running, as much as my own site unfortunately. Anyway, consider this another backup, just in case hehe.... read more

I have two small tool updates available for download.
My VBS2EXEcutable tool used to be GUI only. Using the tool myself to generate quick "Uninstall" links for most of my tools that the user does not have to search for it in the Windows Control Panel, I realized that a command line version is really what I need, to generate a new Uninstaller EXE via a pre-configured batch file in the programs project directory.
VBS2EXE Command Line by Roy/SAC
------------------------------
Usage:
------------------------------
VBS2EXECommandLine.exe <SCRIPT> <EXE> [/mode:w|c|s] [/batch]
[/icon:<ICON>] [/h|/?]
------------------------------
Basic:
------------------------------
VBS2EXECommandLine.exe <SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT> = the script file to process for example c:\temp\myscript.vbs
------------------------------
Parameters:
------------------------------
<EXE> = The Output EXE File Name*
* If suppressed, read settings from script file is assumed.
See 'Settings from Script' below.
/mode: c|w|s = Script Execution Mode (Default: c)
'c' (or 'cscript' or 'cscript.exe') = Use CScript
'w' (or 'wscript' or 'wscript.exe') = Use WScript
's' (or 'start' or 'direct') = Call Directly
/icon:<ICON> = Optional, Path to .ICO Icon File to Include
------------------------------
Switches:
------------------------------
/batch = Use Batch mode. Only valid for CScript to enabled /b Option
/? or /h = This help screen
------------------------------
Settings from Script:
------------------------------
Conversion options are automatically added to <SCRIPT> Source.
This allows the simple execution of this tool the next time
You only need to pass on the <SCRIPT> file as the only parameter.
You can also add the settings yourself before hand, if you wish.
The Settings are stored as Script Comments at the beginning of the
Script. Nothing else except an 'Options Explicit' statement is allowed
before it (including other comments)

I saw this format first in the source code of an earlier version of PabloDraw by Curtis Wensley aka Eto and found it very useful.
I saw it again used for a EGA/VGA DOS Font collection from 1992 by Joseph (Yossi) Gil (fntcol16.zip), which also comes with a set of tools, such as BREAKCPI.COM, which breaks the current EGA.CPI into fonts or DUMPFONT.COM, which is another tool to extract system fonts.... read more

I was avoiding Windows Vista almost to the bitter end. I only installed the 64-Bit Ultimate edition in September 2009 on my new notebook in anticipation of getting the free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate later that year.
Yes, Vista sucked and I knew why I was doing myself a favor avoiding it at all cost. Many of the severe issues Vista had when it started were fixed. I used a version with SP1 and most patches before SP2 was released, so I don’t even want to know what users of the pre-SP1 versions had to endure.... read more
A few days before new year, Desolation Angel contacted me via Facebook and told me that Scour is trying to put a new SAC art pack together for the December 31, 2009. I was delighted about this idea after so many years and sent Scour an email (which I also got from DA) to send him stuff that I created over the years to be added to the pack and the request to send me the pack file as soon as possible that I could convert its content and make it ready for browsing on my web site like I did for all the other 35 art packs last year.... read more
The recent unfortunate events surrounding SAC were not only a surprise for me and a disappointment, but also caused me to stand back for a little and reflect on what happened over the past 16 years when a friend of mine and me started the group 16+ years ago. I did not plan to write as much in detail about stuff as I ended up eventually, but what is new? Hehe. Yes, this tale is written in a personal narrative and describes things the way I experienced them and remember today. This means that it is probably full of errors and bias’ that I might or might not was aware of.... read more
I am using McAfee Security Suite and are very unhappy with it. I was contacting support and also expressed my issues at their user support forums. I got responses back from other users and learned that there are currently no real solutions for the fundamental issues that I encountered.

I drafted this blog post on January 13th already, but wanted Scour to review it first. He did not respond to my emails and I wasn’t able to catch him on IRC either. He got the text though. A chat with Barium on IRC on January 14th indicated that Scour got the draft. Communication is definitively something we need to improve on a lot, but then this post is about the lack of it anyway. Today is January 23, 2010 and I decided to publish the post and assume that Scours silence is to be understood as an approval of my write-up. It’s something positive after all. I was more concerned that I missed something from out long conversation, but I am now getting ahead of things. Let’s start from the beginning:... read more
I was very productive over the past few months. It was just December last year that I released my “Megatro Vol1” intros pack with 28 Oldskool Demomaker productions of mine. This is an update to my little script that converts MS DOS ASCII files, such as NFO's or FILE_ID.DIZ text files (Code Page 437, USA) to ASCII files with HTML encoded Unicode characters and also to Unicode text for the use in MS Windows. The HTML encoded ASCII files can be used to display the ASCII art, specifically the "High ASCII" or block ASCII art on a web site. The script is written in VBScript, but the release package also includes a Windows executable, which is the VBScript converted via VBSEdit by Adersoft.... read more
