Hi folks, One of my action items from our recent meeting at ASTM was to determine where the Barry Taylor document on use of SI units and the Taylor & Kuyatt Tech Note on Uncertainties could be found on line. Here they are: NIST Special Publication 811 "Guide for the Use of International System Units (SI)" by Barry Taylor is at http://sed.nist.gov/sp811.pdf . Other sites with information on units and physical constants that may be of interest are at: http://sed.nist.gov/cuu/Units/index.html, http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/index.html , and http://sed.nist.gov/cuu/Constants/index.html . NIST Tech Note 1297 "Guidelines for Evaluating and Expressing the Uncertainty of NIST Measurmenet Results" by Barry Taylor and Chris Kuyatt is at: http://sed.nist.gov/Document/tn1297.pdf . Other information about uncertainties that may be of interest can be found at http://sed.nist.gov/cuu/Uncertainty/index.html . Another action item was to relay the URLs of some of the other markup language sites. For starters, the Materials Markup Language (MATML) Site can be found at http://matml.nist.gov . This site contains a "links" section that points to several other markup language sites such as mathml and cml. I hope this helps. Gary Kramer |

Friedrich Brunzema just posted a glossary for discussion purposes into the CVS tree - the MS Word and PDF versions (as well as an HTML version) are available on the animl.sourceforge.net web site. Randy |

Hi everyone, I have dug up and modified a glossary we use in house at MDS SCIEX. I have removed some SCIEX-specific terms -- some definitions may still be very much SCIEX specific. This could be a good starting point for a discussion. It would be good if we could keep the list in the Windows Text format, with lines ending in carriage return and linefeed, instead of just linefeed. If you would like to post/change items, pls use cvs to make the changes, or post a request detailing the changes to this mailing list. The preliminary glossary can be viewed at the link below: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/animl/glossary/Glossary.txt A few people probably deserve some credit for helping create this list, namely Ron Bonner, John Robson, Richard Yan and Peter Gzowski.
