[Ani-users] not much success

dear list members

i tested ani today on two different systems: dell gx200 and dell gx240.

with the gx200 the bood cd was simply ignored although i have set up 
the cd-rom to be the first in the boot sequence. o.k. this is a scsi 
system and i cannot find documentation anywhere if ani must be 
configured for this special case or not. i only read that scsi support 
is built in the kernel now. do i need to make any changes?

the gx240 did start booting but then it showed a kernel panic because 
it could not mount the disk. my monitor is too small or ani booted to 
fast i could not read the error message properly (something about 
ncr...).

i don't want to offend the developers with the following, it's just an 
ani-newbe question;-) why don't you use knoppix or some other 
distributions and put ani on these? i had no problem to boot knoppix on 
both gx240 and gx200; all devices were recognized without problems. 
with such a distribution you would have devices support for free and 
could concentrate on the other stuff. please forgive me if this is a 
stupid question because there are technical reasons which i don't know 
yet.
