Hi all, Is it possible to use NLite before using ANI 1.1.1 for a network installation ? Because NLite modify Winnt.sif, txtsetup.inf and other. When I was trying to use NLite, I had some errors during windows's installation (network installation with ani) : Windows tried to copy some files during its installation but it does not found it (Nlite deleted it) and I have error. Thanks, Pascal Gora |

Hi Pascal, this nLite seems to be a nice Tool, didn't knew it. It should be definitely possible to use nLite, because after the tweaking with nLite, windows still can be installed manually (that's what the tool is for, isn't it?). It seems to me, if we find out which files are missing after useing nLite, we can have a look in ANI and find out, where those files a referenced (should be in a textfile) and you can delete those references and there you go. OK, first you'd need to: 1) Tell me, if you can install yout nLite-tweaked Windows manually. If not, sekk support at the nLite forum :-) 2) make a file list of the windows-files before and after nlite and a diff, so we see what has beend deleted and what is new. Hi all, I have some questions about joining a domain. I don't understand how is going on. I have a server PDC (Samba) and a server ldap. What exactly the domain for ANI ? - is it the domain for windows or is it the account for ldap ? When I used ANI, the computer directly going to ldap connect and add the pc (dc=com,dc=univ,dc=fr), but for windows xp the computer stays in WORGROUP and not in the domain=COMLUM (samba pdc). Thanks for your help Pascal |

Hey Pascal, I had the same problem. If you want the computer to automatically join a domain, you have to provide it with the domain name, a domain administrator name and their password. Furthermore, every computer needs a samba account (see the samba reference and search for "add machine script" and you should find proper information) Then, the computer will create a samba account for itself and join the domain. Check Microsoft's "unattended install" references for the exact syntax with the commands ("JoinDomain" "DomainAdmin" and "DomainAdminPass") (Sorry, I'm at home and the network I am talking about is out of reach now, thus I don't know the exact terms) Hope I could help you! Hi all, I am trying to join a computer in a domain but I have a problem with my password. In fact I have this character " (quotation marks) for the admin password of my domain and it is not accepted for the unattend file. I have an error at the begining of the installation when ani copies the file unattend.txt. Somebody has an idea for this. I already tried this : DomainAdminPassword=xxx"xxx DomainAdminPassword=xxx\"xxx DomainAdminPassword="xxx\"xxx" Of course I do not change my password, Thanks for any help. Pascal Gora |
