You can find additional maps in the kbd distribution, just download
the latest version and copy your keymaps into the
usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386 directory hierarchy:
ftp://ftp.win.tue.nl/pub/linux-local/utils/kbd/
You will probably need the azerty dir and files from the include/ dir.
Then, you also have to modify the etc/init.d/boot script to load your
keymap (i think 'loadkeys fr' will be enough).
