is this in java ? I'm lookin for a napster like protocol (there is still a central server), but with peer to peer capabilities, like what you are describing

The home page (http://source.net/projects/anet/) says "Programming Language: C, C++", but I plan to make the interface module in Java.
If you want to make a clone of ANet on Java, go for it, but wait for the protocol to be fully specified. Or you can simply join this project and help us! Start reading the docs on the project site, and tell me if you're interested.
