Getting started

You need to go through the following steps to get Androsm running on your Android smartphone:

1. Download the latest binary as an APK file from the files section.
2. Download pre-bundled map data for your area from the map download page. (You can also generate this yourself but let's keep that for another help page.)
3. Copy both files to your phone.
4. Enable the option that is called "unknown sources" or similar in your phone's settings. This is needed to be able to install from an APK file and is found in the application or security section of the settings.
5. Install the app from the APK file by opening it in a file manager.
6. Enable GPS positioning.
7. Launch Androsm.
8. In the setup menu, select "Map source" and the button "Choosing map source".
9. Select the ZIP file with the pre-bundled map data that you want to use.
10. Now select "OK" at the bottom of the map source menu. Wait a few seconds for Androsm to open the map data.
