Hey Laura, No problem, I didn't consider it might have been ufw. I'll update the instructions to remind others who might be running a firewall. Great you got it working, be sure to post up your experiences and suggestions! Thanks, Sean On Fri, Oct 23, 2009 at 9:54 AM, Laura Berdasco <lau...@gm...> wrote: > Good morning Sean, > I resolve the trouble: the 'ufw', I have enable the firewall for ubuntu :$. > I'm sorry, I don't remember that. There shouldn't be any problem with the connection from what you have described. Do you get any error messages when you try to connect? Often, the error message will be quite long winded (as it dumps the whole console output to the dialog for debugging) - If this is the case, then the last bit of the message, after the ":-" will be the most useful. Another thing worth trying is using the IP address of your machine instead of the hostname (assuming you aren't already doing this). If this fixes the problem for you then it's a bug, Tesla should be resolvig the hostname correctly. Regards, Sean |

Good evening, I have problems when I've tried to connect my HTC Magic (1.6 version of Android) with my laptop (Ubuntu 9.04). I have installed OpenSSH and libpam-ck-connector, but the connection has not been done. The SSH connection is working because I can access to this laptop from another computer (and from a little SSH console for Android too). Tesla is always in working state. You know what can be? Thank you, -- Laura Berdasco Sánchez http://lauraberdasco.com |

Hello again Mike, The latest release of Tesla (0.9) should have a fix for the problem you reported where the app crashed while attempting to launch Amarok 1.4. Thanks for flagging it up. Be sure to let me know if you continue to have problems when using it with Amarok/VLC, or if you notice any other issues. New release of Tesla - the long delayed 0.9:
* New Playlist Support (currently VLC and Amarok 1/2 only)
* Seek buttons for more accurate skipping in media
* Crash when changing tracks too quickly in Rhythmbox (#27)
* Tesla crashes when attempting to launch Amarok 1.4 (#28)
* Add song info support for Dragon Player (#48)
* Exaile play/pause button does not toggle when pressed (#50)
Sorry Rhythmbox fans, I'm close to adding playlist support for you;
but I was beginning to sit on this release, and want to start getting
some feedback on the players I can support already.
I hope to follow this with another release soon, there are some
features that are nearly finished, but didn't get enough testing time.

Version 0.8.2 of Tesla has been released. It's not particularly exciting (unless you are affected by the bugs that it fixes): * Tesla does not crash if Rhythmbox is not playing when connecting * "Permission denied" and "No job control" errors when connecting hopefully fixed Hopefully the next release will follow soon, with lots of exciting new features :) |

Hey all, Just a quick note to say I'm making a new release. It's nothing particularly exciting, just various fixes for some reported bugs: - Tesla does not crash if Rhythmbox is not playing when connecting - "Permission denied" and "No job control" errors when connecting hopefully fixed I've also started work on some playlist functionality, which I hope to release as soon as it is stable enough. For now, I've left it turned off. Cheers, Sean |

Right now, Tesla is not quite at the level of quality to withstand the Android Market user review system, but as soon as it reaches v1.0 I have always planned to upload it onto the Android Market myself (probably after a quick voting round on the developer list). Other than Google's Android Market, I have no issue with Tesla being maintained on other third-party markets or download sites (such as Handango and GetJar) as long as they are kept up-to-date :) If you are a developer, and have any interest in contributing to the project in some way, I'll be very appreciative of the help. Thanks again, Sean |

Hi Micah, MPD sounds like a good player to support. I'll definitely look into how this might be done. Looking at the project website, it sounds like it uses a client program to handle the playback control, and there are a number of examples listed. Are there any that you're familiar with and could recommend I looked at to get a feel for MPD's functionality? Hi, Tesla looks cool. I'm wondering if you will support mpd? Its basically the canonical music playing server that allows for remote playing of music. Its effectively designed for what you are trying to do with the different music programs. Thanks! Looks really great, I look forward to checking it out more. m |

You rock, keep at it! Hey Neil, thanks a lot for your feedback. I've just made a fix for that particular issue, a new release should be ready by the end of this week. In the meantime, you should be able to avoid the error message by starting Rhythmbox and playing a song before attempting to connect to it from Tesla. I'll let you know when the fix is available.
