Carrying around the private key could be seen as a security risk.

What do you do to address it bearing in mind that the average thief probably isn't going to be interested in your GPG key?

We could encrypt the key with the same password as the one that is required to use it and decrypt it when needed?

What's your experience of revoking keys?

I think this needs to be addressed.
Is this a problem?
Is there a better place to discuss this?
