AnarchiX ==================== What? -------------------- AnarchiX is an open-source 2D point&click adventure game in the style of the good old titles like "Monkey Island", "Sam&Max", "Day of the Tentacle", "Indiana Jones", ... It is about the "AnarchiX order", a group of open-source mascots trying to purge the world of proprietary software. As it is an anarchistic order consisting of more-than-average intelligent mascots, the methods to accomplish their goals are usually quite unusual and complex. Why? -------------------- I grew up with those funny games and miss them ever since. From time to time I enjoy one of those games again with the ScummVM. And I wanted to code such a game myself for a long time. There are a lot of good open-source games out there, but the genre of 2D point&click adventures is not that well represented. How? -------------------- The game is divided into short episodes. As I am just one single developer until now, the episodes are released after one another (It's done when it's done). Each episode will have a specific subject it is referring to. There will be just one executable. The episodes will be packaged data files that can be downloaded separately. I develop in "C" and use the "Enlightenment Foundation Libraries" as core framework, with "Evas" as graphics engine and "Edje" as Layout engine. the "Lua" scripting language is used to glue things together. AnarchiX therefore should be able to run almost EVERYWHERE. The game source code is released under a BSD licence. The associated media are released under different creative commons licences. Where? -------------------- There is a project page at sourceforge.net. There you can get the source, the episodes, help and information. http://anarchix.sourceforge.net The repository of the game source: git clone git://anarchix.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/anarchix/anarchix The repository of the episode sources: git clone git://anarchix.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/anarchix/episodes
