Matthias, mind an average windoze user cannot run the provided python files (I've tried python 3.x and 2.7 as well). It would be great to find an python expert who is able to port the stuff to windoze python.. And yes, the 1284P is DIL40 and 44smd drop in replacement for 32 and 644. My guess is it will be the mainstream for the next 2y.
