Erich Thanks for that, I can read the forth on Lubos site but struggle with the eastern european. Checkoslovakian ?? With the 485 I have always been a little concerned about the overhead of microcontrolers following a data stream of which only a fraction is addressed for the controler. Reading through the Atmegas usarts there is an additional 9 bit mode that allows the usart to ignore traffic that is'nt addressed for the microcontroler in question. Good for reducing unnecesary interupts etc. I think this could be useful.
