I'm using AMCL (gnome-mud) 0.91 on a Red Hat 8 system. The help files did not install to the place that the program believed they were. Second, the documentation of how to modify the Profiles is circular: Click on the help file link to the Profiles section, and it connects you to a place in the introduction which says "For further information, go to the <Profiles> section" which merely points me back to that same intro section. I want to configure the software so that it will colorize private messages and whispers, but not normal text. How do I set that up? I'm sure it's in the Profile, but I don't know the syntax for the Action/Trigger screens. --=20 -Bob James Pentar InfoSystems www.keyserver.net KeyID FEBEC3DB |

I tend to keep gnome-mud running for weeks at a time, and I've noticed that as the scroll buffer gets longer and longer and longer, text scrolling slows down, as you'd expect. This is on a pretty new system, and I've seen a local lag of as much as a second before entered text prints to the window. I don't know if this is what the original poster is seeing. I did look at implementing a maximum line length for the window, but couldn't see an obvious way of doing so. With luck, GTK 2 will offer one. -v, still busy busy busy. |

Greets all, New Linux User - I'm running Mandrake 8.1, just dl'd Gnome-mud and got it running. My question is this: Does anyone else notice a laggy/slow scrolling screen? It seems to only do one line at a time. The mud I play, it's imperative to have quick scrolling and fast response. I'm used to zMUD, which has gotten much faster over the years, but I really want to learn Linux, so I've decided to go the immersion way - I wiped my Windows HD and the ONLY mud client in the house (besides my wife's, and she won't let me use her comp) is GNOME-mud. I'd really like to avoid using kmud or the others, as this one has some great options and a real nice feel aside FROM the scrolling issue. So, back to my question: Has anyone noticed this besides me? Is there a way to fix it? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks! Solaron Scott Grant _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? In 0.9.1, there's the gnome-mud-plugin-api manual, which currently describes the Python interface, and the PLUGIN.API in the sources which describes the C interface. The answer to this will probably be, it will not work on Mac OS X in the current form. Maybe I have some time to make GNOME-Mud compile without dynamic linking and in the same time lose function of plugins (which there are none anyways) best regards Robin |

This is a bugfix release. from the NEWS file: - Minor fixes. - Added mnemonics to all menu items. - The plugin api documentation is now rewritten in DocBook and usable through your gnome-help viewer. - Added missing figures for the user manual. - The menu item now works in the GNOME2 Panel. Have fun! :) best regards Robin |

Python support currenly needs version 2.1+
Hope that will help you.

I seem to be having a little difficulty getting Python plugins
recognised by Gnome-MUD v0.9.0. Placing the test file foo.py:
import GnomeMud
def replace_foo(conn, data):
return data.replace("foo","bar")
conn = GnomeMud.connection()
conn.write("Hello, world!\n")
GnomeMud.register_input_handler(replace_foo)
GnomeMud.register_output_handler(replace_foo)
in either $HOME/.gnome-mud/ or $HOME/.gnome-mud/plugins/ has absolutely
no effect. Am I missing something? Python version is a little old,
1.5.2.

I did a search on google on TclReFree, and it seems that you are getting
the wrong regex.h, which seems to be from tcl?
You might try to link with tcl (-ltcl), or, install GNU regex as someone
else stated before, and try to compile with the right library.

I now know that is it the regex.h on this network that is wrong, I have tried to compile amcl, sclient and xchat 1.8 and it is always the same errors. I know now that it is the regex.h on this network that is wrong. Can someone send me another one from some other system? Just so I can try with that one, please do this for me... I have tried to compile amcl, sclient and xchat 1.8 and it is always the same errors. That doesnt leave much else to do then to change regex.h files to some newer or older file. I dont know if you can send me files to this email, if you cant, use this email: jm...@wr... Thankfull for quick reply MvH Mattias "Nallen" Holmstr=F6m |
