A while back I noticed a ton of old mail stuck in the
mailq. I search the amavis-user group on marc.theaimsgroup
and found that it was a bug. They suggested running a
cron job with the following /usr/sbin/sendmail -C
/etc/mail/sendmail.orig.cf -q . I did and all seemed well,
until the cron job stated mailing me errors. Like
Unbalanced and service unavailable. any suggestions?
I am using amavis-0.2.1 with sendamil on RedHat 7.0 Box.
Should I use amavisd?

Officially, we don't support amavis-0.2.x anymore. Without any
specific information in the form of mail logs and config
details, we won't be able to help. I suggest you use the
amavis-user mailing list for that.
I generally recommend milter for a sendmail based setup,
because it's much easier to install. You may need to recompile
sendmail, though, I don't know whether sendmail on RH7.0 is
milter-enabled, or even milter-capable.
The current and recommended version of amavisd is
http://www.amaivs.org/contrib/amavisd-snapshot-20020220.tar.gz
If you use sendmail 8.12.x, you _must_ apply this patch
http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/sm-812.html
and recompile.
