Is there anyone using sendmail 8.11 and amavis successfully in a real live environment? I tried amavis-0.2.1-pre3 (scanning all incoming and outgoing as per amavis README.sendmail) but couldn't get it to work with the recommended sendmail.cf RunAsUser and DefaultUser settings (amavis and amavis:amavis resp.)
One of the problems is that sendmail wipes the aliases database if it finds group write permissions enabled on the message queue directory when it tries to do a newaliases (= sendmail -bi). Like most sites I guess, we need to rebuild the aliases db regularly. The problem is that the amavis queue directory needs g+w otherwise nothing gets queued. Don't know why the mqamavis directory should need g+w perms though. Anyone know exactly why?
