Hi all, I hope you're having (or you've had) a wonderful Christmas !! I've been planning a bit more about aMail future, and as the Christmas spirit reached me I did some work (an early draft, I must admit). As first and foremost the new aMail will be completely different, so I think that is fair (If most of us agree to do it) that aMail changes its name. Just as a temporary name I choose aMess, mainly because what we try to do is to build a messenger (to cope with e-mail, Usenet, etc.) based on aMail. The second, and more important, is that the plans are being detailed in http://amail.sourceforge.net/aMess/. Just to give you an idea of what I tried to do is, mostly, an outer view (links "Main discussion" and "Phase one"), an approximation to the implementation ONLY for the storage service (Storage section) and some supplementary work that will help us to integrate all of this, and will be part of the Service glue (SOAP as a language isolator PLUS a Query Language and a Returning Data Format) Well, as usual, all this stuff is to be put under your scrutiny and consideration (while we continue working on aMail v2.1.2). Once we agree with this first steps, we can use the Storage service as a template and continue working on the other ones. Hoping you can take some time to read and give some feedback to this project (and to my tired cell brains). -- Victor A.
