Hey everybody, first of all I have to say that I am a huge fan of AMS, and I
really see a big potential for its use.
I have used it a lot before in Ubuntu 9.04 where there seemed to be no
serious problems with sound or xruns (which I at that time didn't even know
what was about).
However.... after I installed a new Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer, I have
encountered several bugs in AMS, all creating a lot of xruns on Jack, and
ultimately crashes AMS.
First I noticed that the VCF filter does create this behavior very easily
causing x-runs, and if I in addition use midi poly-mode (I use 16 inputs as
standard for poly) then it will crash the program very quickly. It seems
using poly only amplify the problems I already have.
Now most importantly, I love the idea sending back audio information in some
form as am, fm modulation or whatever, or in the form of the delay module
into a mixer, which gives me a basic but controllable and creative
echo-machine. This I could do before, but now it will just instantly crash,
and if you ask if I can reproduce this that should be easily done... I
could also send some patches I have made, so you see exactly what I'm
Ok now, before, I never used to even touch the JackUI, except for turning it
off or on. I have because of these problems tried many of the solutions
which more professional tutorials describes as sources of X-runs, by
adjusting the different cashes and what not, but I really don't think the
problem lies there. It seems the x-runs are only a reaction to something
that goes wrong in my AMS.....
I need to find the cause ;D because I love the program, and I even have
some ideas of my own as to how it could get even better, with time.
I hope some of you find the time to help me, who knows, there might even be
more people like me out there who are having the same problems.
