Hello, I'd like to request some little features: - Trigger next step by a "Step-Input" signal instead of BPM based sequencing (so that the sequencer can be triggered by a rectangle output of an LFO) - Introduce a Clock Divider module (/2, /4, /8, /16, /32, ..) Regards - Syso |

Sorry, sent this to Malte when I meant to send it to the list. Date: Thursday, September 6, 2012, 2:39 PM My only reason for forking was that it didn't seem that there had been any activity in the last six months; I know Guido had been working on a new release version (and I had submitted some patches for things like fixing the LFO time reset problem, and adding stuff like the FFT vocoder, analog memory, etc). Guido then got the new-style (nested) menu going; I pulled that down and tested it and boy, was it sweet. Then Guido went silent, and nothing seemed to happen. Yes, I'd be glad to work on going forward, either way. Is anyone taking on release coordination? - Bill |

Is AMS development still alive? Or am I the "last man standing"? Guido Sholz has gone incommunicado ("quota exceeded"), so I'm not sure if anyone is still coordinating releases. Should I fork? Pray? Some of both? - Bill Yerazunis |

I remember a few months ago there was a lot of work on getting bugfixes, improved UI, and a few new modules ready for a new release of AMS. Then... nothing. Is there something I should be helping with? - Bill Yerazunis |

Guido et al: What's our timetable to new release feature freeze? The reason I ask is I'm working on a new kind of sequencer - an FSM sequencer, and I want to know if I have enough time to finish it and submit it before feature freeze, or I should just look for minor tweaks. Yep. Just did a pulldown and it looks good. (I think that technically speaking, analog driver may well belong in CV (I had that wrong too) but I'm not going to quibble. However, the function modules (1->1, 1->2, 1->4) don't seem to work. Even when I reset them (and thus can get a track line), output is always zero. I think that's old behavior.... yes it is. I'll file a bug report on it. - Bill --- On Sat, 2/18/12, Guido Scholz <gui...@ba...> wrote: > From: Guido Scholz <gui...@ba...> > Subject: Re: Reorganizing the big menu > To: "Bill Yerazunis" <yer...@ya...> > Cc: als...@li... > Date: Saturday, February 18, 2012, 4:17 PM > Am Fri, 17. It is much easier for me to handle one patch per feature and the result will will be achieved much faster (as a benefit for you). I suppose you can handle a text editor, so you could cut the patch into coherent pices by hand. Just as an proposal. Guido -- http://www.bayernline.de/~gscholz/ http://www.lug-burghausen.org/ |

As your patches/contributions tend to be large the best way to add them to the project is to use the project tracker: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=69130 I do not have administration rights for this mailinglist and can not help releasing something big and caught at the gate. Sorry. By the way it is helfull for me to receive patches as _real patches_ made by "diff"; favored diff options are "-Nur" to enable modest reading. Why not make a fork of ams or maybe just a side project with third party modules?... For the last few months, I had been posting patches to add several new modules to AMS, including a Moog-960 style sequencer, a bit grinder, an analog memory, a voltage-controlled delay, a hysteresis, and an FFT vocoder. I heard nothing back; no acknowledgement whatsoever. Three weeks ago, I posted an omnibus patch of all of these improvements (plus several bug fixes). I heard nothing back except for the mailing list robot saying "message held for moderation". Is AMS an orphanned project? Are the moderator(s) still around? Please let me know what I should do. I apologise in advance if I've offended anyone. - Bill Yerazunis |

It does, thank you! However, I don't understand the following: "The Level parameter defines the level for the transition between Decay 1 and Decay 2. For large values of Decay 2 the Level parameter is close to the sustain in traditional ADSR envelopes." What does level for a transition mean? Aren't each of Attack, Delay, Decay 1, Decay 2 and Release sets of levels per harmonic? What is the reasoning behind not having a plain old Sustain? Just curious ;) BTW, any chance of JACK support in future? -- Thorsten Wilms thorwil's design for free software: http://thorwil.wordpress.com/ |

Hi, I started to write some documentation for Add64, see http://sourceforge.net/projects/alsamodular/files/Add64/ Hopefully this helps to get you started with this complex and versatile synth. Some background is found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Additive_synthesis Matthias |

[/quote] So I guess, it could be a interesting piece of source-code for devs, that want to build a synth for end-users ;-) best regards HZN > > |

Hi! After struggling with the Makefile and my local Qt installation, I finally managed to build it (with some help from #lad). Now I really don't want to complain, but how do I get any sound out of it? Is this an ALSA application? Even then, I would have expected to get a beep out of it, but failed. -- Thorsten Wilms thorwil's design for free software: http://thorwil.wordpress.com/ |
