[Alsa-user] All speakers not working for snd-ca0106...

Hi,
I finally managed to compile alsa on my p4, 2.4Ghz, Debian Sarge machine
for 2.4.27 kernel.

I am getting sound output nice and easy.But I have a weird problem:
I have 5.1 speaker system, but I can get sound only at either front,rear
or center speakers at=20
a time.This can be selected from the drop down list in my xmms
configuration combo as
hw: 0,0
hw: 0,1
hw: 0,2

I do not get any sound in all the speakers simultaneously, even though I
have used alsamixer and
increased the volumes in all the channels.
(I am a litttle confused over the terminology used in the alsamixer
(SPIDF, Capture Feedback etc.)

Is there some configuration option that I am missing out somewhere?

Is the alsa driver considering the channels as separate devices or
something?I

On a side note, my speakers are working well with the windows
drivers provided with my card I am able to enjoy all the 5 speakers
there.

Please let me know if i really did something very stupid or missing
something important.
