Hi I try to understand the asound.conf options. In some plugins like dmix and dshare I can choose a period time and a period size as well as a buffer size and a buffer time. What is the technical meaning of this options? I read something about the buffer stuff - is it right, that buffer size is the size of one data package that is sent to the sondcard at one time, and that buffer time defines how often new packages are sent to the output? If yes, what is that period stuff for? I hope, that anyone can explain this to me. Does anyone know a good text online, which describes how a soundcard works and how it interacts with the software. I didn't find such a text but would like to get a better background, so maybe one day I know what I am doing when I change audio options. Whish you all the best Jakob _________________________________________________________________ Schluß mit Spam! http://www.msn.de/antispam/prevention/junkmailfilter Wir helfen Ihnen, unerwünschte E-Mails zu reduzieren. |
