This other sound card has to be supported for SPDIF in with linux. i.e. NOT SB Live, SB Audigy etc. I have verified that a Motherboard based sound card with the Intel ICH5 chipset with an ALC650 has an SPDIF in that works on my machine. The reason for this SPDIF out -> SPDIF in is so we can actually verify which SPDIF info bits are being set. There seems to be no clear understanding yet, of what bit does what in the cs46xx driver. The most likely cards to work for SPDIF in are actually the cheapest onces, because they are unlikely to have re-samplers etc. Cheers James |
