I have put many of my results on qbik.ch, where also some info written by Clemens Ladisch is to be found. > The Roland (Edirol) UA-1X series *do not* work (at least with the Asus > A7V333 mb I have) so I have little faith in any of the other Edirol stuff. This seems to be a bug in the kernel actually. I've found another USB device which wouldn't work on my Via-board (KT133) but worked on my laptop like the UA-1X did (or did not), and that's the Contour ShuttleXpress (a jog wheel). There have been some patches on linux-usb-devel recently regarding the VIA problem, but I didn't find the time to apply them yet. Tips are hard to give. I like both Terratec devices, also the Audiotrak devices are well supported. The Optoplay might be a good, small alternative to the UA-1X, but it doesn't record. :( Edirol devices that did worked on my Via machine are for example the UA-5, UA-20 and UA-1D. Tascam US122 works fine, too. (Still: If I was to choose between USB and PCI, I would always choose PCI.) ciao -- Frank Barknecht _ ______footils.org__ |
