I tried looking at the Wiki but could not find my answser. What the maximum word bit length and sample rate supported for alsa USB audio class 2 devices? |

Found any time to look into this yet Clemens? :) |

Antelope Audio Zodiac Gold does 384Khz at 32 bits: http://www.antelopeaudio.com/en/products/category/dacs Someone had emailed me that its working fine with MPD and Alsa 1.0.24 and no dmix. |

We're talking digital-to-analog conversion, right? ESS Sabre DAC decodes 32 bit audio:http://www.esstech.com/index.php?p=products_DAC And a USB Audio Class 2 device that uses said DAC chip: http://www.usbdacs.com/Products/Products.html I have an Ayre QB-9 that decodes 24bit audio to 192Khz that is also a USB Audio Class 2 device. |

We're talking digital-to-analog > conversion, right? Yes. All DACs have a noise level so high that they cannot output a signal from a 24-bit source that would be measurably different from a signal from a source with less than 24 bits. With about 6 dB per bit, a DAC would have to be capable of a dynamic range of more than 144 dB for 32 bits to make sense. > ESS Sabre DAC decodes 32 bit > audio:http://www.esstech.com/index.php?p=products_DAC It _decodes_ them, but I notice that ESS makes no claim that any bit beyond the 23rd makes any difference in the output.
