[Alsa-user] ALSA not working on HP Touchsmart 600-1100 with CentOS 5.4

Hello,

I have tried installing ALSA driver, lib and util for every version
from 1.21 to the tip and I cannot get alsaconf to identify any audio
device on my HP Touchsmart 600-1100 with CentOS 5.4 installed.  Please
see the attached lspci and lshw dumps.  Thanks in advance.

Hello all!

I found what I can change Input Source for default sound device via mixer by
this commands:
amixer -c 0 -D 'default' set "Input Source",0 Mic
amixer -c 0 -D 'default' set "Input Source",0 Line
etc
Also I have a another PCM device defined in my .asoundrc:

change Input Source for my_fullduplex by this commands
amixer -c 0 -D 'my_fullduplex' set "Input Source",0 Mic
amixer -c 0 -D 'my_fullduplex' set "Input Source",0 Line
Input Source changed also for default pcm device. I looking for a way to
create custom control for my_fullduplex what allow me change Input Source
for 'my_fullduplex' and for 'default' independently.

After that as I hope I can start two instance of my application and select
in first 'default' as audio device and in second 'my_fullduplex' as audio
device So in different instances of application I can capture voice via
microphone connected to Mic jack and microphone connected to Line in jack at
same time. But I dont know how to create custom control and it is possible
or not. If some one know how to do it please help.

[Alsa-user] snd-hda-intel, model missing for ALC888 on Intel DP43TF?

Hello,

I have an Intel motherboard DP43TF. It has the following audio chipset:
(according to lspci):

ALC888

The motherboard has 3 jacks on the back (pink, green and blue and 2
jacks on the front of the case are connected to the mobo (pink and
green). There's also an SPDIF output on the mobo (which I'll one day
hook up to the videocard to get sound over hdmi if I understand the
manuals correctly).

So I'de guess the "model" for the snd-hda-intel should be 5stack-dig...
but this model isn't available in ALC888 according to the manual.

I found a python program "HDAAnalyzer" from Jaroslav Kysela and I can
force all three connectors on the back to produce output. If I also
force the model to 6stack-dig, I can playback 4 or 5.1 channel audio
through pulseaudio, and with a bit of clicking in HDAAnalyzer, I can get
6 channels on the 3 jacks on the back of the pc (tested with
speaker-test -c 6).

My question: I suppose all this reconfiguring in HDAAnalyzer shouldn't
be necessary to get surround sound working imho. I think there should be
some way to add this specific "model" to the snd-hda-intel driver, so
that it could be detected by default. Could this be done? (or has this
been done and has that update not yet reached ubuntu 9.10?).
