#711 Intel HD Audio variant produces no sound

No

This has recently been discussed on the alsa-user mailing list.
Some new variants of the Intel HD Audio (snd-hda-intel) are
recognized but produce no sound. For me the problem occurs on
a new Sony VAIO desktop but it is also occurring for some people
with new laptops. Everything loads correctly. Alsamixer can be
used to mute/unmute volume. However, it does not show the
proper inputs/outputs. In particular the digital out is not
recognized. No sound occurs out of either the analog or digital
outputs.

I can confirm. I'm using a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2040.
I've tried the stable and development releases of the
driver, as well as the kernel module, as well as the gentoo
    module. No sound.

After reboot or alsaconf I can hear the sound via analog and
digital (coax) output. As soon, as I start alsamixer or
another mixer and change the volume of any sound channel,
    the sound stops immediately.

After reboot or alsaconf, if no application changes sound
volumes, kde sounds and xine can produce sound. After
logging out, or some time without using the sound card, the
    sound stops.
