Hi all.

First of all thanks for ALSA, it's great! Keep up the
good work.

Here is my problem: I am running Project CCRMA on
Fedora Core 1. I tried to connect a Behringer BCA2000
USB device to my computer. I have added the device to
my modules.conf like this:

-- BEGIN /etc/modules/conf
alias eth0 sis900
alias usb-controller usb-ohci
alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd
alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394

alias snd-card-1 snd-usb-audio
alias snd-slot-1 snd-card-1
alias sound-service-1-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-1-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-1-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-1-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-1-12 snd-pcm-oss

# --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
# --- ALSACONF verion 1.0.4 ---
alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
# --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
-- END /etc/modules/conf

Also, since the hotplug subsystem didn't seem to be
able to recognize the device, I added the
vendor/product ID to /etc/hotplug/usb.handmap like this:

-- BEGIN /etc/hotplug/usb/handmap extract
# Behringer BCA 2000
snd-usb-audio 0x0003 0x1397 0x000bb 0x0000
0x0000 0x00
0x00 0x00 0x00
0x00 0x00
0x00000000
-- END /etc/hotplug/usb/handmap extract

Now what happens when I plug the BCA 2000 in and turn
it on is this:

-- BEGIN /var/log/messages extract
Feb 24 12:59:50 ian kernel: hub.c: new USB device
00:03.3-1, assigned address 11Feb 24 12:59:50 ian
kernel: usb.c: USB device 11 (vend/prod 0x1397/0xbb) is
not claimed by any active driver.
Feb 24 12:59:53 ian kernel: usb.c: registered new
driver snd-usb-audio
-- BEGIN /var/log/messages extract

The driver does apparently not recognize the device,
because it stays mute. A lsusb -v gives:

-- BEGIN lsusb -v output

So the device is there, but obviously some of the
parameters are bogus.

Now I *think* that there is something in the driver
that causes it not to work, but I might just as well be
wrong.

Still, have fun,

Sten
