In Alpha the status bar says "File for window "..." has changed on disk since last save (the version on disk is newer)" but the menu item remains inactive. Sometimes the old behaviour is useful. Hi Giovanni, I just tested this behavior and it seems to work for me. This is what I did: * edited a tex file * typeset the file * edited the log file (the *Revert* item at this point is dimmed) * then switched to the tex file again and typeset it again * then switched to the log file: this time, the status bar displays the warning AND the *Revert* item is enabled. Could you give an exact sequence of actions where this behavior gets wrong ? The check for newer (or older) version of the file on disk is triggered each time a document window is activated. In my previous example, it occurs when I bring the log file to the front after the second typeset. --- ** [tickets:#173] Activation of "Revert To Saved"** **Status:** open **Created:** Thu Jul 05, 2018 08:54 AM UTC by Giovanni Dore **Last Updated:** Thu Jul 05, 2018 08:54 AM UTC **Owner:** nobody In AlphaX when the file for the active window is changed on disk the menu item "Revert To Saved" is active. No, the Revert item is not enabled. > Could you give an exact sequence of actions where this behavior gets wrong ? > The check for newer (or older) version of the file on disk is triggered each time a document window is activated. In my previous example, it occurs when I bring the log file to the front after the second typeset. It seems the item Revert is active if and only if one of the windows (not necessarily the active one) is dirty. If I typeset a tex file while the corresponding log file is open there is the warning when the log file is in front, but the log window is not dirty and Revert is dimmed. Hi Giovanni, I tested again and it works for me. There must be something I'm missing. Hi Bernard. I realized my precedent description of the behavior of Alpha was not accurate. The sequence of actions is: edit a tex file typeset the file open the log file then switch to the tex file again and typeset it again then switch to the log file: the status bar displays the warning and the Revert item is DISABLED. But at this point if you switch to the tex file edit the tex file without saving it switch to the log file: the status bar displays the warning and the Revert item is ENABLED. I have Alpha 9.0.3d.1 (8338). Doing these tests I discovered another problem. edit a tex file typeset the file open the log file then switch to the tex file again and typeset it again then switch to the log file hit the Save Button and then Don't Save every menu of Alpha becomes disabled. Many many thanks for your work on Alpha. Hi Giovanni, thanks for the recipe. This is the exact course of actions I had taken and I just tried again. In my case, in the end, the *Revert To Saved* item is enabled as expected. I can't reproduce the bug. The key proc here is *alpha::modifiedCheck* defined in alphaHooks.tcl. Is it possible that you have a redefinition thereof somewhere ? Concerning the second issue you report in your last comment, as a coincidence, I have fixed it yesterday (see [rev. 1625](https://sourceforge.net/p/alphacocoa/code/1625/)). --- ** [tickets:#173] Activation of "Revert To Saved"** **Status:** open **Created:** Thu Jul 05, 2018 08:54 AM UTC by Giovanni Dore **Last Updated:** Wed Jan 16, 2019 01:07 PM UTC **Owner:** nobody In AlphaX when the file for the active window is changed on disk the menu item "Revert To Saved" is active. This is fixed now. This bug revealed two issues: * one must not call the proc alpha::frontmostAndActive during an *activateHook* because at this point the activated window is not yet considered being at front * one must execute the *resumeHook* in *reverse* stack order Changes committed to the repository ([rev. 1642](https://sourceforge.net/p/alphacocoa/code/1642/)). --- ** [tickets:#173] Activation of "Revert To Saved"** **Status:** open **Created:** Thu Jul 05, 2018 08:54 AM UTC by Giovanni Dore **Last Updated:** Fri Jan 25, 2019 09:31 AM UTC **Owner:** nobody In AlphaX when the file for the active window is changed on disk the menu item "Revert To Saved" is active.
