I don't know the details of it, but IIRC 24 bits coulour is a nonstandard extension to X. AFAIK, the X standard colour sepths are 1, 8, 16 and 32 bits, and all the rest are vendor-specific extensions. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken here. I think you'll find more about it on the pages of xfree.org >From <all...@ca...> Mon Oct 28 13:24:26 2002 Received: from mail.libertysurf.net [213.36.80.91] by canvaslink.com with ESMTP (SMTPD32-6.00) id A0D88E840116; Mon, 28 Oct 2002 13:24:24 -0500 Received: from localhost.localdomain (212.83.141.230) by mail.libertysurf.net (6.5.026) id 3D53C31200948C90 for al...@ca...; Mon, 28 Oct 2002 19:22:06 +0100 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" From: Eric Botcazou <ebo...@li...> Organization: Home To: al...@ca... The patch is not meant to fix the 16-bit problem, only the 24-bit one. Wh= at =20 happens now in 24-bit mode ? Same thing with PCX images ? --=20 Eric Botcazou >From <all...@ca...> Mon Oct 28 13:32:58 2002 Received: from pedos.es [193.153.232.41] by canvaslink.com with ESMTP (SMTPD32-6.00) id A2D735EF00D6; Mon, 28 Oct 2002 13:32:55 -0500 Received: from gregorio by pedos.es with local (Exim 3.35 #1 (Mega-Debian)) id 186Ee9-0005i3-00 for <al...@ca...>; Mon, 28 Oct 2002 19:29:53 +0100 Date: Mon, 28 Oct 2002 19:29:53 +0100 From: Grzegorz Adam Hankiewicz <gr...@te...> To: Allegro mailing list <al...@ca...> Message-ID: <200...@pe...> Mail-Followup-To: Allegro mailing list <al...@ca...> References: <3.0...@md...> <000c01c27e5d$d2cffea0$804f24d5@fr> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <000c01c27e5d$d2cffea0$804f24d5@fr> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4i X-Sender: <gr...@te...> Subject: Re: [AL] Bitmaps and different color depths Precedence: bulk Sender: all...@ca... Hmmm... couldn't Allegro use internally one of those whatever_virgin variables to hold the byte order? Say, once a graphic mode is set, it's unlikely that this ordering will change for that color depth, so Allegro could 'remember' it instead of resetting it. >From <all...@ca...> Mon Oct 28 15:07:57 2002 Received: from mail.iinet.net.au [203.59.3.38] by canvaslink.com (SMTPD32-6.00) id A91A867300FC; Mon, 28 Oct 2002 15:07:54 -0500 Received: (qmail 29104 invoked from network); 28 Oct 2002 20:05:31 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO mercury.iinet.net.au) (203.59.207.212) by mail.iinet.net.au with SMTP; 28 Oct 2002 20:05:31 -0000 Message-Id: <5.1...@ma...> X-Sender: be...@ma...
