Alfresco Enterprise CMS Preview Release

Alfresco is an open source enterprise content repository and portlets built by one of the most experienced content management teams that includes the co-founder of Documentum.

The Alfresco product has a lean, modular component architecture that uses the latest open source Java technologies, including: Spring, Hibernate, Lucene and MyFaces. Having developed Documentum's Repository and Web Development Kit, this team has applied lessons learned to simplify the process of developing portals and adding new content services. Alfresco uses Aspect-Oriented Programming to introduce security, versioning, and other services to its repository. The repository services, constructed using Spring, is architected as a service-layer to simplify attaching new aspects, such as transaction management, and exposing content services as web services. Alfresco uses the MyFaces implementation of JSF to develop JSR-168 components to hide complicated control services from portlet developers.
