#132457 SVN access issue: ganglia

First Level Support
Jason Smith

I am listed as a developer for the ganglia project:

yet, when I try to commit a change to the SVN repository using my SF account (smithj4), I get a Forbidden error:

svn: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: MKACTIVITY of '/svnroot/ganglia/!
svn/act/14edbee0-72dd-4717-9799-58221d816726': 403 Forbidden

What am I doing wrong? I tried a few different SVN clients and even verified that my SF account works by logging into the website, even changed my password, but I still get the Forbidden error from SVN.

    1. My OS is Linux, Fedora 9 (64-bit).
    2. I tried both the SmartSVN (4.0.11) java SVN client and the official SVN client that comes with Fedora 9 (subversion-1.4.6-7.x86_64).
3-4. When trying to commit changes to SVN, using the 1.4.6 CLI client, I get this Forbidden error:

    # svn ci
Authentication realm: <https://ganglia.svn.sourceforge.net:443> SourceForge Subversion area
Password for 'smithj4': <I enter my SF password here>
    svn: Commit failed (details follow):
    svn: MKACTIVITY of '/svnroot/ganglia/!svn/act/3b892191-3929-4e5d-a8c1-faacd16a4e05': 403 Forbidden (https://ganglia.svn.sourceforge.net)
svn: Your commit message was left in a temporary file:
    svn: '/tmp/ganglia-svn/trunk/monitor-core/svn-commit.tmp'

I get the same Forbidden error when using the SmartSVN java client. If I intentionally enter the wrong password, it asks me to re-authenticate:

Authentication realm: <https://ganglia.svn.sourceforge.net:443> SourceForge Subversion area
    Username: smithj4
    Password for 'smithj4':

When I enter the correct password, I get the Forbidden error.

    Greetings Jason,

Your project has not granted you SVN access to ganglia. Please ask one of the project admins to grant you this access.

I think it's just a missed step. You are a member of the project, but as yet, the admin has not asigned you the needed permissions such that you can actually check in any code. Once they do that, you'll be all set.

If you need anything else, please post a response to this request.
