This is a follow-up on the prematurely closed request #2191902 that concerned the visual mismatch between header level 2 and 3 (h3 appears larger than h2, because it's bolded):

https://sourceforge.net/tracker2/?func=detail&aid=2191902&group_id=1&atid=200001

John Haverlack posted a very useful piece of info there, but, perhaps due to the anonymity of the original poster, the conclusion remained "it's bad, because it's set to be bad". But it *can* be reset to... normal, can't it.

Apparently, the problem lies in the following piece of CSS that cannot be customized project-by-project:

h2 { font-size: 150%; }

h3, h4, h5, h6 { /* eliminate h3 and h4 from here ? */
border-bottom: none;
font-weight: bold;
}

h3 { font-size: 132%; }

And the suggested solution is: do not bold headers larger than 100%, because the difference in size between them is so small that when you make H(n-1) bold, it will visually appear larger than/the same as Hn. Headers <= 100% should stand out from the normal paragraph font, so they can be bolded.

Alternatively: copy the mediawiki.org settings, compare e.g.:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Navigation#Sidebar

where "Sidebar" is H2 and "Navigation" is H3. H3 is not bolded and looks OK. Now compare the attached image, which is an enlarged fragment from our project wiki, with H2 over H3. H3 overwhelms the H2, doesn't it.

Thank you,

Piotr

    Heading level 3 (below) appears larger than H2 (at the top)
