#130332 Hosted Apps: MediaWiki error 501 on adding code

Can't save the following on a project wiki page (https://apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/freedict/index.php?title=freedict:FreeDict_FAQ_-_4._Installing_the_TEI_DTDs)

account@host:~$ сd /home/account; mkdir TEI

(the "cd" is the problem; I had to use a cyrillic 'c' for 'cd' or I would get an error; similarly with some paths)

I can't manage to save the following either:

## /etc/sgml/tei2.cat
## Centralised SGML catalog file for the tei2-p4 DTDs

CATALOG /usr/local/share/xml/tei2/p4/schema/dtd/catalog.tei

Each time all my editing is lost and I get the following error 501:

"Method Not Implemented

POST to /mediawiki/freedict/index.php not supported."

What's going on?? It's not Mediawiki itself, it's something SF-specific. I've just lost over an hour on fighting this "feature".

When I try to add a header (something marked with e.g. '==' to the wiki document I mentioned above, I get error 500: "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request."

Mediawiki is two minor versions ahead of you, BTW, at 1.13.2 (hint)

You don't mention it in your request, but I've found that I have to wrap my code snippets with [code] tags when I'm using MediaWiki. Could that be the problem?

Hi Travis, thanks for trying to help :-)

But please do not close this request, this is real.

Firstly, I've never seen [code] used as a wikitext tag... Did you mean <code>?

The <code> and <pre> and <tt> tags merely change some aspect of text formatting, it's all CSS really. They are not supposed to be "the magic words that prevent a wiki from barfing on innocent symbols", which is apparently what we need here, except it's not the wiki, apparently, it's something in the server. Something parses the text that I try to send to the wiki -- but it shouldn't.

Please try to edit any page in a project (hosted) wiki, and insert:

    account@host:~$ cd /home/account; mkdir TEI

try to see the preview (Shift+Alt+P). Watch it barf.

(you can wrap it in <code> or whatever -- no effect)

Change the "c" in "cd" to a cyrillic character (с), and watch it go through. It's that silly.

Then try to paste the fragment I've already posted, and save or preview. Watch it barf.

And then please try to help :-)

[As an off-topic side note, I noticed that even project admins don't have sysop powers on their project wikis -- how about demoting the guy who came up with this idea? :-)]

Ah, on [[code]]: but this extension is also not meant to prevent some strange parsing, but to highlight code in various ways. I'm reporting something very different here. Thanks.

I'm going to escalate this to our Service Operations Group for investigation on the internal errors.

adding this fragment to a near-empty page causes error 500 (NOTHING exotic there)
