#126316 Zip archive may fail to extract

No

This issue has been confirmed on Mac OS X 10.5.2 and 10.4.11, it may exist on other versions of Mac OS X as well. Despite how the archive is made (via Mac OS X's builtin facilities or through Stuffit) the archive fails to extract via Mac OS X's builtin facilities once downloaded from sourceforge, the archive does not have this issue before being uploaded to sourceforge.

TEMPORARY WORKAROUND
---------------------
Workaround #1: Extract using Stuffit DropStuff
Workaround #2: Extract using the following command in Terminal (HD>Applications>Utilities): "unzip desktop/Moire4.0.1.binary.zip". Executing that command will result in the archive's contents being extracted to the directory you are currently in (this will be your home folder unless you cd elsewhere before executing the unzip command).

Sample: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/moirex/Moirev4.0.1.binary.zip?use_mirror=osdn

What am I doing wrong? I am at a loss as to why this issue occurs.

    Greetings,

It sounds like you are running into issues with some software that was developed on our site. I can't solve that for you.

However, the project that created the software likely can. Contact them via their Project Summary page (https://sourceforge.net/projects/<project_UNIX_name>) and or their project web page, if they have one (http://<project_UNIX_name>.sourceforge.net) and be sure to pass along the detail of the issue you've run into.

Hello, I am the Moire X project maintainer as shown by viewing my profile: http://sourceforge.net/users/moire/ . I am having trouble properly uploading the zip as I have described and would like assistance in figuring out what's going wrong between me and sourceforge's servers. Please help, thanks!

Hello, I have actually only tried compressing using Mac OS X 10.5.2. This afternoon I plan to test using 10.5.3 and 10.4.11 and will report back my findings, this issue may be isolated to 10.5.2 and at the very most I hope it's just something broken in Leopard.

To clarify, I have only tried compressing using Mac OS X 10.5.2 and earlier versions of Leopard. I have confirmed that the archive fails to expand using Mac OS X's builtin utility on 10.5.2 and 10.4.11. I will continue this investigation by seeing if the results are any different when compressing using 10.5.3 and 10.4.11.

This issue exists when the archive is created using Mac OS X's builtin facilities on 10.5.3 and 10.4.11 as well, I am at a loss as to what is causing this problem.

    Greetings,

Okay, I'm going to escalate this as I think the next team is better armed to manage this.

Please advise: Is this issue still present? As far as I'm aware, we've had no similar complaints from other users. To respond, add a comment to this request.
