I agree with that. I admit I have no clue how to use autogen and kin to 
actually setup the situation though. (My only impression of what's 
currently been setup is 'ewww, too many excess files dumped into the 
directory tree.' And that certainly doesn't consider how many may or 
may not be necessary. Sigh.) :/
