I believe autoconf is called during autogen.sh.

Yes, PB compilation works fine, but I was trying to get unix-style 
compilation going. I guess it doesn't really matter at this point, but 
once the cross-platform support appears, AM will need to be able to be 
able to be compiled on Linux or Windows/cygwin.
