What does the error below mean?
If your software doesn't work with my system then it
probably doesn't work on too many systems.
My System:
-----------
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9700 - 128 Megs Ram
CPU: AMD XP1800 (not overclocked)
System Memory: 512 Megs Ram
DirectX: Latest Version
Screen Set To: 1024x768, True color (32-bit)
OS: Win98
I cleared memory of all TSR's. I rebooted. I installed
an earlier version of your software to test that. I even
tried setting different sceen resolutions and such.
It always gives me the error below. I don't get errors
with any other programs. Can you help me?
------------------- ERROR ------------------

(Aleph One only supports 24-bit and 32-bit colour depths.)

I'm sorry for your problems with Aleph One... Thank you for
your nicely detailed bug report!
I do not have access to Win98, so haven't tested it on that
platform, and it was last tested on Win95 some time ago
(about a year ago).
Which package of Aleph One did you download? I presume it
was build_4_08_07_03? Or an earlier version? If it was an
earlier version, could you please try with "build_4_08_07_03"?
Though I suspect you'll get the same response, unfortunately.
Once you have done that, try running the
command "remoterendermanager.exe /unregserver" from the
installation directory of Aleph One (usually "C:\Program
Files\TwotWare\Aleph One\"). During the start-up of Aleph
One, you should get a long pause, approx. 30sec, after which
there should appear a dialog saying that it could not start the
Remote Render Manager, and not to worry, then you might
get the same error. This helps me determine where in the
code the bug is in the release build you are using.
I am currently in the process of finalising a fresh release that
will give more detail (hopefully useful) of the error that the
dialog gives. I'll let you know when it is available.

I have just uploaded a fresh release. The package version
is "build_5_16_07_03". Please try this instead, as it should be
more stable on start-up and it should report more (hopefully
useful) detail regarding the error.
