Hi all,
The past two weeks, most members of the Alambic team were quite busy, and we weren't therefore able to do a lot of work on Alambic. However, we'll restart this week work hard to improve Alambic ! Even if we didn't make any big changes since last status update, here is a list of what has been change:
- MusicImporter has been improved (handle the importation of new music into Alambic using drag&drop)
- create an animation for the PlaylistPage to animate on start up (thanks to Marlon)
- create the AlambicCachedItemsControl. This is an items control that caches the UI Elements so that they are not created everytime the source changes (thanks to Marlon)
- fix "divide by zero" exception when adding a directory without any music file inside... read more

Hi there,
The development of Alambic is still in progress. The last week, we mainly had bugfixes and not really a bunch of new features, but that'll come soon! Moreover I (Jeremy) was the only one working on the trunk code because Groxx was working on the GUI on a separate branch. We hope to merge soon our effort soon to provide a better GUI for Alambic. Here is the famous list of new stuff in Alambic:... read more

After about one month of developing Alambic in .Net 3.0, the WPF branch of Alambic meets quite well our previous version in .Net 2! Thanks to Xaml and the Databinding, redeveloping some parts has been very easier and less time consuming! We have implemented almost all the features we had in the "trunk" version. Still missing, the option window. We have to consider whether it will actually be a window in itself, or a kind of panel displayed inside the main window... We are for the second option, but there is still some thinking left on how to achieve that.... read more
The Alambic team is currently looking for developpers in order to improve the quality and the functionalities of our project faster.
Two "Help wanted" items have been posted on SourceForge website, one for .NET developpers and the other one for GUI designers.
Thanks to that, we alread met Khrono. Khrono has an important experience with .NET technology. He'll first help us by developping an hotkey system for Alambic (global shortcut). So, let just say a big "Welcome" for our new developper !... read more
Hi,
After a quite long break during the holidays, the Alambic team has taken back the development of the music player.
The port to WPF has been a challenging and hard effort, but currently, we have ported almost all the features of the old Alambic on the new .NET 3.0 framework.
And the result is simply amazing ! The .NET 3.0 offers a very new way to design our application. Data binding is used almost everywhere and allows us to have a proper View / Model software design.... read more
Hail !
We have started the migration to WPF and .net 3 ! Some tests have been made, and we have a lot of ideas for the incoming WPF-based GUI.
The current version will not be upgraded, although threre still are some bugs (You can try it by downloading the sources and compile it with Visual Studio). The reason is that we will concentrate on the WPF version. Another cause is that some members of the Alambic team are a bit demotivated, so we cannot progress as quickly as we want to.... read more
Hi,
Some change has been made today on the SVN. Developper must update their working copy, and the new URL is :
- https://alambic.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/alambic for the ROOT directory
- https://alambic.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/alambic/trunk for the TRUNK (current version) directory
- https://alambic.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/alambic/branches/wpf
for the new WPF project
The development of Alambic has officialy started ! The source code is available through SVN but is still very very very very (...) experimental.
We plan a very first alpha release within 3 months.
Yesterday night, Alambic played its first playlist ! It was great ;)
See you soon for more information about Alambic,
