Hello! What about showing the current status of aKregator over the icon in the system tray? The number of unread messages is displayed good. But maybe you can add showing the nice exclamation mark (black symbol, yellow background), when one feed can't be retrieved. And display the icon shadowed when feeds are being retrieved, until all feeds are retrieved. Thanks for your opinion in advance! Martin Ereth |

Actually it's pretty useless as soon you have some more feeds where you don= 't=20 read every new article. Some sort of a simple priority system would make=20 sense here (low priority =3D ignore unread articles, high priority =3D noti= fy). > But maybe you can add showing the nice exclamation mark (black symbol, > yellow background), when one feed can't be retrieved. Hmm, I'd consider that noise. Why do you need to have that in the tray icon? If a feed isn't available temporarily, you can't do much about it anyway. Y= ou=20 can just wait and hope it will be fixed at some point. If it is a long-term= =20 problem, the feed probably doesn't exist anymore, or was moved. In both=20 cases, it isn't something you need to be notified of "proactively".=20 (What is needed though is a detailed error message what's going wrong, and = not=20 only the red icon.) > And display the icon shadowed when feeds are being retrieved, until all > feeds are retrieved. Is it important to know that fetching is going on? I think notification sho= uld=20 inform you of fetching results (i.e. new articles), not the fetching itself. In my opinion the systray icon should notify important information to the=20 user, and not bother him animating actions and states which are not really= =20 relevant for him. Otherwise you end up with blinking and bouncing icons=20 perceived just as noise and distraction. =46rank |
