Akorn now has an installer file that will guide the application admistrator through the setup process. It will be included as part of the distribution going forward but is now a seperate package.

AkornGroup has just released the first version of the Akorn RDS under the GPL. It includes both a MySQL and MS SQL Server database depending on your needs. With the design focused on database abstraction, other database support is planned for the future.

This release includes complete GUI management of the definition files through the web interface. Of course, it includes list generation with sorting and filtering, PDF reporting from any list as well as custom PDF reports, forms with built-in error checking, and highly customizable (yet simple) security measures.

The Akorn Rapid Development System has launched its site on SourceForge and released the framework under both a GPL and proprietary license. We feel the framework provides a foundational basis for new and existing application development and want to accelerate the development of new applications among the widest audience possible.
