Hello and thanks for Android application!
I've tried to read my Russian biometric passport without positive result.
I've provided BAC components and aplication starting to read file 102 and then fail with force clouse.
As i know (http://developers.sun.ru/content/view/384/85/) Russian biometric passports contain only files with tag 97(front page data) and 117(Photo).

I'm little too busy these days (whos not?) and not really into File Specs.
Do you know what encoding your Photo has (progressive, nonprogressive, jpeg/jpeg2000)?
Cheers Max

Do you know if this should work with a galaxy nexus? I have attempted to read a couple of Australian biometric passports but I never get past "please provide your passport".
I am not sure if this is an issue with with galaxy nexus compliance or if Australian passports are not supported.
I read that JMRTD requires 9 character document numbers where australian passports only have 8. Is this the case with AJMRTD also?
The suggested solution in this thread is "Try adding trailing '<' characters." but AJMRTD doesn't allow me to do this. No idea if this is related, just a thought.
I continuing to develop this app, based on the current SVN version of JMRTD. If you want to test, I'll post an APK at http://jmrtd.org/androidclient.apk. PM me at info@jmrtd.org.
Thanks!
Martijn

Me too with ajmrtd (from Google Play Store) and my Japanese passport.
androidclient.apk (bjmrtd) is worse as it has no option to read my passport.
Any clue?

After installing bjmrtd you should be able to just hold the passport near to your Galaxy Nexus (from the home screen) and it should start the app automatically (that's why I removed that option).
Can you try the "NFC TagInfo by NXP" app (it's in the Play Store) and see if you can get some basic information about your ePassport. I'd be especially interested in information under the "Tech" tab, i.e. whether it's an ISO 14443 type A or B.
Thanks!
Martijn

I hear ePassports are Type B but unfortunately NXP's TagInfo (and any other similar apps) does not detect my passport at all.
FYI it DOES detect my driver's license (as Type B) as well as other Type A, F and V cards.

I'll have a look at the intent filter specified in our app, but I think it is allowing all IsoDep tags, so both A and B should be handed over to our app. I've heard of problems with NXP NFC chips reading type B tags before. Thanks anyway for testing & reporting.
Cheers,
Martijn

I just read this question on SO. One of the responders suggests you use an alternative antenna (possible with Nexus S, don't know about Galaxy Nexus) and see if that works with your type B card.

It sounds very suggestive but I'm afraid it's kind of impossbile for Galaxy Nexus, whose NFC antenna is said to be embedded in the battery.
Thanks for the input anyway.
