It bothers me to say it, but this has been a known problem with the GCC 4.0.0
packages in the Toolbox for a long time.

The preferred solution for us is to update to the latest compiler.  I've been
pushing that boulder (uphill) for a long time now, but you wouldn't believe 
the scrutiny any package undergoes before we have permission to distribute it.  
This is the reason nearly everything in the Toolbox is at least 2 years old.

In the short term, I would recommend installing the older g++ 3.3.2 which
worked better.  Look here:

Of course, as a last resort, if you really require the latest GCC you could 
build it yourself.
