An RPM will run on the release of AIX indicated in its filename, or any newer
releases.  Most of our packages were built on AIX 4.3 or 5.1, so they can be
installed on just about anything out there. 

As you noticed, there are a rare few cases where seperate packages are
actually required for each AIX level.
