I think this will help.  Just run the following commands (as root):

mkdir /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo
chmod 755 /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo
echo "0" > /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/fonts.dir
chmod 644 /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/fonts.dir
