I've just rebuilt db-3.3.11-4 and gdbm-1.8.3-2, each including their 64-bit versions. You will be able to see them on the FTP site within an hour or two. Hopefully they will allow you to make further progress with your Python build. That changelog entry you saw reflects a change that never really got published; that was a remnant of the building of Toolbox packages for AIX on ia64, which was to have included 64-bit images back at the time. Meanwhile, the Toolbox packages remain almost entirely 32-bit, but with a few libraries built with 64-bit members built beginning earlier this year ... mainly for developers who are trying to link with 64-bit versions of libraries when doing things just like what you are doing.
