David, thanks for the quick response. Just downloaded your new
readline-4.3-2.aix5.1.ppc.rpm and the python-64bit build goes a step 
further ;-)
Next think missing is the 64bit version of db-3.3 libs  ...
I will gib it a try ... Don't know, what else the python extensions will
need next;-)
