There is a new version of the glib2 RPM available for AIX, which includes a workaround for the problems described in an earlier post to the list, titled "Illegal instruction(coredump) by pango-1.2.5-1 ,gtk2-2.2.4-1". The new glib2 RPM is available from the following location: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/RPMS/ppc/glib2/glib2-2.2.3-3.aix5.1.ppc.rpm If you experienced a failed pango or gtk2 installation earlier, you should attempt to deinstall the existing pango and gtk2 RPMs from the system before installing the new glib2 RPM. Here are the steps I would follow for installing this update: # rpm -e gtk2 # rpm -e pango # rpm -Uvh glib2-2.2.3-3.aix5.1.ppc.rpm pango-1.2.5-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm gtk2-2.2.4-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm -- Philip K.
