Gnome 2.4 images are now available in the AIX Toolbox, for AIX 5.1 and greater.
Below is a list of the images that are new. They are accessible now.
I recommend downloading the "ezinstall bundle" scripts to download all the
necessary package groups. The scripts require that you have the "wget" rpm
package installed. For more about the bundles, please see the Toolbox README.

Please note:
GNOME is comprised of dozens of packages, and there are numerous
dependencies among the various packages. Because of this, it is best
to download all of the packages and install them all together. Although
there are some that will install individually, in most cases you will get
dependency error messages if you try to install them one at a time. This is
especially true if you are updating from an older GNOME.
There are also updated "development" packages that come with many of
these packages... such packages have a "-devel" suffix in the name.
You DO NOT need them to run Gnome; in fact, it will be easier to update
if you do not use them. You only need them if you are doing your own
Gnome development and need the header files.
So, if you have installed older versions of the "devel" packages, you will
need to download and install these at the same time also, because the
devel packages must match the version number of its respective parent package.
Better yet, if you are not using them, just deinstall them. You can always
install the newer ones later if needed.

(The more tentative "alpha-quality" gnome-speech and gnopernicus packages have
also been updated, but are not included with the bundles; they have other
requirements. See the "known problems" section in the Toolbox README).
